Pride Extend Win Streak to Five With 12-1 Win Over Spinners
A seven run sixth inning highlighted the Piedmont Pride Baseballs win over the Mooresville Spinners on Thursday night at York Comprehensive High Schoo, 12-1. The Pride move to 8-2 on the season and move two games ahead of the second place Spinners with the win.
The 12 runs are the most runs the ball club as scored all season in a nine inning game. “ We struggled early in the season at the plate, but lately we have been taking some good approaches at the plate and scoring a lot of runs” said Coach Hudak after the game.
In the last three games, the Red and Blue offense has put up a staggering 33 runs.
Colby Stuart got his second start of the season for the Pride. The Eastern Tennessee State attendee threw for 6.0 innings, striking out eight, and not allowing a single run.
The pitching staff has begun to catch fire for manager Joe Hudak, not allowing more than two runs in four straight contests.
Eight Pride players drove in a run on the night, while Mark Engel had himself a three RBI night. Brayden Lyman drove in two, and six (De La Cruz, Brown, Lee, White, Davis, Estridge) all drove in one. Tyler Estridge send his second long ball over the left center fence in the bottom of the second inning.
Leading 5-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Red and Blue would open the flood gates, scoring seven runs on four hits in the home half of the inning. The Inning was hightlighted by a Mark Engel 2 RBI single, and Peter Brown driving in his first run of the summer on a two out RBI double.
The Red and Blue will be back in action tomorrow, as they head to take on the Lake Norman Copperheads in a double header at Hough High School.
