The Piedmont Pride came from behind once again to defeat the Charlotte Galaxy, 4-2 at York Comprehensive High School Monday night. The Pride entered the 7th inning trailing by a score of 2-1, with men on first and second, Coach Hudak would send the runners in motion. A throwing error by the catcher at third and a fielding error by the left fielder would allow both runners to cross the plate and give The Pride a 3-2 lead.

The Red and Blue would add an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth after a Jared Gay double would score Jake Wright and put The Pride up, 4-2.

The Galaxy would get on the board first in the top of the 2nd inning after a single scored the runner from second and Charlotte took a 1-0 lead.

The Pride would answer back in the bottom of the third on a Mark Engel single scored Chris Padilla. The RBI was Engels 15th of the season.

Charlotte would answer back with a run of their own and take the lead back in the top of the fifth.

John Bakke got the starting nod on the hill for the Red and Blue giving up just two hits, no earned runs, and striking out four batters. Jaret Peterson would pick up the win for The Pride coming out of the bull pen and throwing three strong innings and striking out five. Peterson moves to 3-1 on the season with a 2.5 earned run average.

Nolan Wilson would come on to get the six out save for the Red and Blue. In the top of the eighth the Galaxy would get a leadoff single and move over to third on two straight wild pitches. Nolan would come back to strike out the side and strand the runner on third. In the ninth, Mr. Strike out would retire the side via strike out and The Pride would walk away with the W!

On the season, Nolan Wilson has been nothing but dominant. “There isn’t a word to describe how Wilson has been pitching this summer for us.” Said Coach Hudak after the game. Wilson has come out of the bullpen throwing for 16 complete innings, posting a 0.00 ERA (yes you read that right) and striking out an astonishing 35 batters.

“Some ball clubs hope to win balls game, and these guys now that we expect to win them” Hudak said when asked about how his team finds ways to come back and win close balls games.

The Pride move to 17-4 on the season, taking a two game lead over the Carolina Vipers in the SCBL and will be back home tomorrow, July 3rd for a match up with the Concord Athletics.
