PRIDE 16U TEAM HEADING TO THE DOMINICAN ON A MISSION TRIP

PRIDE 16U TEAM HEADING TO THE DOMINICAN ON A MISSION TRIP

The Pride Baseball 16U travel baseball team is taking a mission trip to the Dominican Republic over Thanksgiving. The team leaves on Wednesday, November 22, and returns on Monday, November 27. The team recently completed its fall tournament season. The Pride played in 5 tournaments, finishing the fall with a record of 13-4-1.

This will be the 7th mission team Coach Joe Hudak has taken to the Dominican Republic. He took high school aged teams in 2012, 2013, and 2014, while taking college aged teams in 2015, 2016, and 2017. He’s excited to be taking this team to the DR. “This will be a life-changing trip for these young men,” the founder of Pride Baseball explained. “Every trip we have taken over the past 6 years has been an unbelievable experience for these guys. They have a chance to understand how blessed we are in America, but they also learn that the secret to happiness isn’t found in things. The people of the DR have so little, but they are so happy.”

The team will play games against local teams on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. They will share the gospel and pass out Spanish Bibles after each game. The players will do community ministry each day as well. They will visit a school for underprivileged kids, an orphanage, and a sugar cane village. The team will attend a Dominican Republic church service on Sunday.

The players going on the trip are:

Weston Cregger, The Covenant Classic School

Kamryn Evans, York Preparatory

JP Haggarty, Cuthbertson HS

Jackson Melton, Cuthbertson HS

Holden Page, Gaston Day School

Kobe Thurmond, Rock Hill HS

Jordan Thurmond, Rock Hill HS

McConner Wallace, Greater Cabarrus HS

Peyton Williams, Rock Hill HS

Luke Wright, Chester HS

The team is busy raising money for the trip, which will cost approximately $18,000. Anyone interested in supporting the mission trip can go http://pridebaseball.net/donate. There you will find instructions on how to send a check or donate online. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.
